The Swiss Pass offers are intended for foreign guests. They are personal and not transferable.

0.1.001 The Swiss Pass offers come in a plastic cover along with a synoptic map showing the area of application as well as important conditions of use.

0.1.002 Unless otherwise mentioned, the terms and conditions of the Swiss Pass (SP) and other Swiss Pass offerings (Swiss Flexi Pass (SFP), Swiss Youth Pass (SYP), Swiss Tour Pass (STP), Swiss Group Pass (SGP) and Saver Passes) shall apply.

0.2 Entitlement

0.2.000 People with a permanent residence (since 6 months at least) outside of Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein may purchase the passes. Acceptable forms of ID for verification purposes are a passport or
identity card.

0.2.001 Swiss nationals living abroad are entitled to buy a SP. The Swiss passport can serve as proof of entitlement. Additionally, it must be proven by means of a residence permit, driving licence, confirmation of residence, or similar, that the permanent residence is abroad.

0.3 Validity

0.3.000 -During its period of validity, the SP entitles:
• to unlimited travel on the rail, boat and bus lines shown by continuous lines on the synoptic map
• to unlimited travel on the urban transport networks of the cities marked by a red-and-white dot on the synoptic map
• to the purchase of an unlimited number of discounted tickets for the lines shown by a dotted line on the synoptic map (without guaranty)
• to obtain an unlimited number of half-fare tickets for those transport enterprises shown by a dotted line on the synoptic map (Swiss Passes count as Half - Fare Cards).

Exceptions:
- Not entitled to purchase Monthly Cards as per tariff 654
- Not entitled to purchase Gleis 7 Cards
• to the purchase of an unlimited number of RailAway offers with a GA discount
• free admission to all museums and exhibitions participating in the Swiss Museum Pass scheme.

0.3.001 Due to space limitations, not all lines are shown on the map. Details can be found in the area of validity. To see the synoptic map and area of validity, see Chapter 673.0, Section 2.

0.3.002 For the purpose of determining the period of validity, the first day of validity counts as an entire day. The card is vaild from 00:00 of the first day of validity until 5:00 a.m. of the day following the last day of validity.

0.3.004 Issuing agencies outside of Switzerland can also issue SPs with an open date. The holder is required to have the period of validity (dates) filled in by a Swiss railway station before beginning the trip. (For information regarding validating the passes, see Section 2.22.)

0.3.005 The period of validity for an SFP and STP is understood to be only the framework period of validity of 1 month.

The passholder must fill in the dates of the days of validity in ink in the spaces provided before traveling for the first time.

On the days of validity, the SFP / STP entitles the holder to free travel analogous to the SP. 50% reductions, including the purchase of Day Cards for Half - Fare Cards, can be obtained on the remaining days. Unlimited travel from the first day the travelpass is stamped to the last day of validity. SFPs / STPs can be used only on days when the Swiss Museums Pass is valid.

0.3.006 The validity of STS tickets in combination with international tickets is regulated in the international tariffs

0.4 Use - Supplements - Class Upgrades

0.4.000 The SP is valid on all trains and routes that serve the general transport of passengers. Travellers are required to show their passport or ID card along with their travelpass.

0.4.001 A seat reservation (incl. a supplement) is required to travel on some trains/boats/buses such as the Glacier Express, Bernina Express, Wilhelm Tell Express, Swiss Chocolate Train, Palm Express, etc. On some postbus
routes (e.g. Alpine passes) a supplement (Alpine Ticket) and/or a seat reservation is required.

0.4.002 2nd class SP holders traveling in 1st class must pay half de difference between the prices of the standard fares for the route being traveled on. One day upgrades can be used with a 2nd class Swiss Pass as per T654

0.5 Children
0.5.000 Children aged 6-16 pay half of the price of the SP if they are not traveling with at least 1 parent (see Section 0.6). The age of the child on the first transfer day is what counts. The discount is valid until the day before the passenger turns 16. Children pay half the normal ticket prices on routes in the discount area.

0.6 Families

0.6.000 Families with the Family Card - Swiss Travel System are entitled to the family discount in the area of application, i.e.:

• Parents have a valid SP each
• Children aged 6-16 travel along for free, (the age on the first transfer day of the parents' tickets is what counts)
• At least 1 parent and 1 child must be travelling

0.6.001 Own children, step-children, and foster children aged 6-16 all count as "children." For an explanation of "foster child," see Tariff 600.3, Section 20.06 ff.

0.6.002 The STS Family Card is issued free of charge. The issuance is mostly electronic.

0.6.003 Family reduction is also available for all additional offerings such as half-fare discount, museum pass and Bonus Partner discounts. See Section 3.1.

0.6.004 Junior Cards and Grandchildren's Cards can also be used in combination with additional half-fare tickets bought with a Swiss Pass (as per tariff 600.3)

0.7 Group discounts

0.7.000 Group discounts are not given. The Swiss Saver Pass is available for people traveling together (see Section 1.4). In some Overseas countries, 'Swiss Group Pass' are sold.

0.8 Dogs

0.8.000 An SP for dogs costs half the price of a 2nd class SP for adults. The ticket should be marked "Dog" rather than with the name of the SP holder. Dogs with a 2nd class SP are also allowed to travel in 1st class.

0.8.001 Small dogs up to 30 cm in shoulder height and similar, small, tame animals in cages, baskets, or other suitable containers, may be taken along for free in the passenger cars as hand luggage. If these animals will be taken out of their containers during the trip, they will require a ticke

1 Offers

1.1 Swiss Pass
1.1.000 The SP is availalbe for 4, 8, 15, or 22 days, or 1 month, in 1st and 2nd class.

1.2 Swiss Flexi Pass
1.2.000 The SFP is available for 3, 4, 5 or 6 days of your choice within 1 month, in 1st and 2nd class.

1.3 Swiss Youth Pass
1.3.000 The SYP is available for young people under 26. The SYP is available for 4, 8, 15, or 22 days, or 1 month, in 1st and 2nd class. The passenger's age on the first day of validity is what counts. The SYP is not available as a Flexi Pass.

1.4 Swiss Saver Pass/Swiss Saver Flexi Pass
1.4.000 With the Swiss Saver Pass and Swiss Saver Flexi Pass, a minimum of 2 adults can travel together at a discount. There are no Saver Passes that can be used with the Swiss Youth Pass. The passes must be issued together and have the same period of validity. A Saver Pass is only valid in conjuntion with another Saver Pass. Saver Passes cannot be combined with Swiss Passes. It is not absolutely necessary for all of the people indicated on the control voucher to be present on the trip. The Swiss Saver Pass/Swiss Saver Flexi Pass can also be used by a few members of the group or even by only one member. However, in such cases the remaining members of the group will not be able to travel with the SP.

1.5 Swiss Group Pass
1.5.000 The Swiss Group Pass is available for groups of 10 or more and is only issued overseas. The passes must be
purchased jointly for the whole group, but group members can still travel individually.
1.5.001 The Swiss Group Pass is available for 4, 8 and 15 days.1.5.002 The validity of the Swiss Group Pass is the same as for SP, including the additional benefits.

1.6 Swiss Tour Pass
1.6.000 The Swiss Tour Pass is available to incoming-tour operators and must always be used as part of a package.
1.6.001 The Swiss Tour Pass is issued for 4 and 8 days (overseas only) and as a Flexipass for 3, 4 and 5 days.
1.6.002 The validity of the Swiss Tour Pass is the same as for SP/SFP, including the additional benefits.

1.7 Swiss Pass AD75 / ST75
1.7.000 SP AD75 and SP ST75 are SPs sold at a 75% discount. SP AD75 and ST75 are issued to travel agents, media
representatives and for sales promotion purposes.
1.7.001 SP AD75 and SP ST75 are issued with a validity period of 4, 8, 15 or 22 days or 1 month.
1.7.002 The validity of SP AD75 and SP ST75 is the same as for the SP, including the additional benefits.

1.8 Swiss Pass Tour Guide
1.8.000 The SP Tour Guide is issued to professional tour guides and purchasing representatives from incoming travel agencies.
1.8.001 The SP Tour Guide travelpass is seasonal, lasting several months.
1.8.002 The SP Tour Guide travelcard entitles the holder to travel on all the same routes as ordinary SP holders. However, an SP tour guide travelcard is not valid as a Swiss Museum Pass.

2.22 Open date / Validation
2.22.000 Tickets issued "open date" must be validated by a ticket agent at a Swiss railway station before the travel begins.The last name, first name, and pass number, as well as the first and last day of validity must be filled in. The field marked "Validating Office" should be stamped with the date. There can be a maximum of 6 months between the date of issue and the first day of validity.

2.24 Swiss Saver Pass / Swiss Saver Flexi Pass
2.24.000 Two types of Swiss Saver Pass and Swiss Saver Flexi Pass are issued. Either one ticket is issued per passenger at a discounted price, or one ticket plus a control voucher on which the names of the passengers are to be filled in, are issued per group. The same conditions of validity apply to both types of Saver Pass.

2.3 Extensions - Exchanges - Replacement
2.3.000 Validity of the Swiss Pass can only be extended by exchanging your current travelpass for a new one with a longer period of validity.
2.3.001 A 2nd class SP can be exchanged for a 1st class SP, or an SP can be exchanged for a longer period of validity (e.g., 8 days instead of 4) at the train stations listed in Section 2.1 for the difference in price plus a CHF 25 supplement.

2.3.002 Procedure:
• Annul the returned SP. As long as the SP was paid for in a foreign currency, it can be annulled in CHF for the same period of validity.
• Issue the new SP. The 1st day of validity must be the same.
• Collect the difference in CHF as well as the supplement.
2.3.003 SPs will not be exchanged or replaced in case of loss or theft. In all cases of exchange / alteration, a cancellation fee of 15% will be charged, plus an administration charge.

2.4 Refunds
2.40 Unused SPs, SFPs, and SYPs
Unused SPs that are returned to the place of issue before the first day of validity can be refunded. SFPs can berefunded before the first day of validity is filled in. Customers receive the price they paid, minus 15%. A small administration charge will also be made in all cases, per PNR.
2.40.001 For SPs issued "open date"
Refund requests for unused and undated SPs that were sold "open date" must be submitted to the foreign place
of issue within a year of the day of issue. Customers receive the price they paid, minus 15%. A small administration charge will also be made in all cases, per PNR.

Validated or partially used passes cannot be refunded.

In case of loss / theft, duplicate rail passes cannot be refunded.
