Russian Railways (RZD) Announcement!

We have been advised of the following annoucement by the Russian Railways (RZD);

Russian Railways (RZD) are to suspend the sale of tickets for long distance trains with departure dates on and after 26^th October 2012.

This is due to the Russian government reviewing a possible change back to "winter time" on the 28^th October 2012 and the increase of times zones in the country from 9 to 11 - for further details please click here

Obviously the proposed change would significantly affect timetables, schedules and the use of any tickets issued for travel after 26^th October 2012 and RZD have had no option but to suspend the ticket sales until the situation is resolved.

We have not yet been informed of the timescale for this possible change, or even if it is going to happen, and as soon as we receive any further information we will advise you immediately. You can be assured that we will continue to work with all our partners and stakeholders to ensure that there is as little disruption as possible during the transition period.
