RENFE Industrial Action in Spain - November & December 2013

We have been advised that there will be RENFE strike action in Spain taking place in November and December 2013.

Please see below for further details;

  • 4th November: 07:00 - 09:00, 15:00 - 17:00, 23:00 - 01:00
  • 8th November: 07:00 - 09:00, 15:00 - 17:00, 23:00 - 01:00
  • 11th November: 07:00 - 09:00, 15:00 - 17:00, 23:00 - 01:00
  • 15th November: 07:00 - 09:00, 15:00 - 17:00, 23:00 - 01:00
  • 18th November: 07:00 - 09:00, 15:00 - 17:00, 23:00 - 01:00
  • 22nd November: 07:00 - 09:00, 15:00 - 17:00, 23:00 - 01:00
  • 25th November: 07:00 - 09:00, 15:00 - 17:00, 23:00 - 01:00
  • 29th November: 07:00 - 09:00, 15:00 - 17:00, 23:00 - 01:00
  • 5th December: 00:00 - 23:00
  • 20th December: 00:00 - 23:00

During days of strike action, RENFE will be running 75% of their Cercanías (commuter) services during peak hours (between 06:00 - 09:00, 13:30 - 15:30 and 18:30 - 20:30) and will be running 50% the rest of the time.

Medium-Distance trains: 64% of trains will run.

AVE and Long-Distance trains: 72% of trains will run.

AFTER-SALES:

Customers with tickets valid to travel during the strike, whose train is cancelled or who wish to cancel their travel plans, can get a full refund regardless of ticket conditions. Exchanges should be processed as a refund plus a new sale.

For passengers that do decide to travel during the strike, every attempt will be made to seat passengers in the class of service corresponding to their ticket. However, if there is no space in the class of service on their ticket and they have to travel in a lower class of service, they will be refunded the difference in price. However, if they have to travel in a higher class of service they will not be charged any additional costs.

Refunds

In order to process any refunds, tickets must be received by International Rail within 28 days of the date of travel. Tickets should be sent to the following address.
