Industrial Action in France - Thursday 25th October 2012

We have been advised that industrial action will be taking place in France on Thursday 25th October 2012.

This will start at 20:00 on Wednesday 24th October and will finish at 08:00 on Friday 26th October 2012.

At present, we do not have information regarding the level of disruption that is expected in France during the strike or whether other carriers will be affected.

Please refer to www.infolignes.com to find out whether a specific train is running or not. You can check the status of a train up to 2 days prior to its departure.

Please find below the after-sales conditions that apply to tickets valid on French domestic journeys only.

After-sales conditions

SNCF journeys:

All tickets with reservation (Public, group and RIT and regardless of the after-sales conditions stated on the ticket) valid for travel within France between 20:00 on Wednesday 24th October and 08:00 on Friday 26th October 2012 can be used on any other train, operating on the same route as the original ticket until midnight on Friday 26th October 2012. Tickets cannot be used to travel the day before the strike. Seats cannot be guaranteed during this time.

Due to expected service disruptions, the timetable cannot be guaranteed.

Groups are advised not to travel during the strike.

Tickets must still be validated in the yellow machines at the station, prior to boarding the train.

Exchanges and Refunds:

  • Customers due to travel in France from 20:00 on Wednesday 24th October until 08:00 on Friday 26th October 2012 who wish to cancel their journey, can obtain a full refund before or after departure.
  • Customers wishing to postpone their journey for a date after the strike will need to obtain a full refund and purchase a new ticket. Passengers will need to pay any difference in cost between the original tickets and the new tickets.
  • Passengers who have a return ticket, whose outbound journey is due to take place during the strike, can obtain a full refund on both the outbound and inbound legs of their journey.


Auto Train Journeys:

Passengers who have tickets for their car to travel on a cancelled Auto Train service have the following the options:

  • Passengers can have their Auto Train and passenger tickets exchanged free of charge for travel on an alternative date up until the 1st of November 2012 inclusive. Any difference in cost between the original tickets and the new tickets will be covered by SNCF.
  • Passengers can have their Auto Train and passenger tickets exchanged free of charge for travel on an alternative date from the 2nd of November 2012 inclusive. Passengers will need to pay any difference in cost between the original tickets and the new tickets.
  • Full refund of Auto Train and passenger tickets.


REFUNDS

In order to process any refunds, tickets must be received by International Rail within 28 days of the date of travel. Tickets should be sent to the following address.
