The Bernina Express

The Bernina Express connects Chur in the canton of Graubunden with Tirano in the Italian Veltlin, via the Bernina Pass. It offers the most beautiful connection from the cool north to the temerate south and the most remarkable fact about this route is that the train climbs to 2,253 metres above sea level, where glaciers lie.

It clambers across 196 bridges & through an amazing 55 tunnels on its southbound journey. Seating onboard the Bernina Express is comfortable so that you can lean back and enjoy the modern panorama coaches. En route you will pass through the romantic forests of Albula valley and a ceaseless number of majestic mountains.
