Ticket Types

There are many different types of tickets available within Portugal and below are a list of all available fares and what discount they offer:

• Portuguese youths "Cartao Jovem"
• Children
• Senior Citizens
• Secondary school & higher education student card
• Citizens with reduced mobility "2/1 fare"
• Special Rates

Portuguese youths "Cartao Jovem" or "id<30" - This discount is valid for journeys on Intercity trains of over 100km.

Children - Children under five travel for free. Children of over five but under thirteen pay half price on Alfa Pendular and Intercidades trains.

Senior Citizens - This discount is valid for people of 65 and over on Alfa Pendular and Intercidades trains.

Secondary school & higher education student card - Offers 20% off on Intercity trains. Valid from Tuesday to Thursday (inclusive) for the following age groups:

• Secondary school student card (10th, 11th & 12th grades) up to 18 years old inclusive
• Higher education student card up to 25 years inclusive

Citizens with reduced mobility "2/1 fare" - Offers free transport to any individual accompanying holders of a disability card on Intercity trains.

Special Rates - Offers a 25% discount for travel in Classe Conforto or Turistica acquired with 7 or more days in advance for specific trains Alfa Pendular.

• This special discount is valid for both classes (turistica/conforto) but does not cover journeys on Fridays, Sundays and Public Holidays.
• These tickets are not refundable or exchangeable.
