National Geographic Magazine declared Croatia "the most beautiful country in the world" in 2005, and no wonder: Its glorious coastline runs for more than 1700 km from the north's gorgeous, heart-shaped Istrian peninsula (dubbed by some as "The New Tuscany" - yes, it's that pretty!); down to the ancient, red-roofed wonders of Split and Dubrovnik in the south - each boasting its own World Heritage Site.

If that weren't enough, just offshore, running the entire length of the mainland, is a fractured belt of more than a thousand beautiful islands, offering all manner of activities in the clear blue Adriatic, from yachting to diving to windsurfing; come on in, the water's lovely!
