Queenslander Class on The Sunlander, classic rail travel at its best

Originally a separate train, the Queenslander is now an exclusive, fully self-contained set of carriages attached to The Sunlander and known as Queenslander Class. Queenslander Class is classic rail travel at its best and these special carriages travel with The Sunlander twice a week in either direction between Brisbane and Cairns.

  • Departs Brisbane Thursday and Sunday
  • Departs Cairns Tuesday and Saturday

For a real rail experience in a class of its own, indulge yourself in the Queenslander Class premium, all-inclusive style of travel featuring first class accommodation, fine dining, exceptional service, entertainment, well-informed commentary and a host of extra special touches. Queenslander Class attendants and Maitre'D are warm, friendly and available to help at all times and onboard Chefs prepare dishes made from the freshest local produce accompanied by a superb selection of fine Australian wines. In fact, dining in the Queenslander Class Restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner is one of the true highlights of the journey.

As well as the Restaurant, there is a warm, inviting Lounge Car where you can relax and share a drink with new found friends, read a book or simply marvel at the passing scenery. In the evening, enjoy the nightly entertainment or relax with a quiet nightcap after dinner.

Accommodation in Queenslander Class includes:

Premium Twin Sleepers: Featuring comfortable sofa seating during the day converting to two sleeping berths at night, which the onboard attendants make up while you are at dinner and convert back to a sofa in the morning ready for your return from breakfast. Twin sleepers are available for Single occupancy on payment of a supplement.

Cabins: The cabins have a panoramic window with blinds, a speaker system so, if you wish, you can sit back and enjoy the scenery accompanied by well-informed commentary, a vanity unit with full length mirror, wardrobe and power point, bedside reading lights, bed linen and towels. There is a basin with hot and cold running water within the cabin and showers and toilets are located at the end of each sleeping car.
